Vegetable and Herb Plant Starts
As a working organic farm, we always seed more plants than we have room to transplant into the field. This inevitably leads to a good supply of organically grown vegetable and herb starts which we offer up for sale in June. While we cannot guarantee certain varieties, we usually have an interesting selection of Heirloom, Saucing and Cherry Tomatoes, Basil, Sweet Peppers, Eggplant, Cucumber, Summer Squash and Hot Peppers. Our starts are robust, and grown in healthy soil to maximize plant health and reduce transplant shock. If you are interested in more than 25 plants and want specific varieties, please contact us no later than January 10th to learn how we can custom grow plant starts just for you. Usually available late May – mid June.

Grapes for Wine, Juice & Fresh Eating
April Joy Farm is home to a micro-vineyard of certified organic wine, and juice and table grapes.
Our Seeded (Wine & Juice) Varieties
Our wine grapes are perfect for home vintners, or those looking for naturally sweet, healthy, fresh juice.
Marechal Foch (pronounced “mar-esh-shall-fosh”) (Marechal Foch Info PDF)
Leon Millot (Leon Millot Info PDF)
The Foch and Millot juice is a deep blue and tastes similar to sweet cherry juice. The flavor is very different than the Concord-type grapes most commonly associated with grape juice.
Our Seedless Table Grapes
We maintain a small trial vineyard with unique dessert and seedless table grapes. Our table grapes are seedless, crisp-skinned and naturally sweet. Our most well-loved variety, Jupiter is a perennial farm favorite.
Juicing Grapes at Home
Grapes may be pressed using a traditional apple cider press, by hand, or with a juicing machine. The Mehu-Liisa steamer is also a great option. We freeze and can our juice for enjoying all winter long. Three lugs (boxes) of grapes is 90 lbs, which will yield between 4-6 gallons of juice, depending on your method of pressing/extraction.
If you interested in purchasing half ton or larger quantities, please email April no later than June 10th to reserve and coordinate the logistics of your purchase.
