Our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program provides you custom grown and harvested organic produce to fit your needs.

You pick every item, every week, all season long. Summer Vacation? Need an alternate pickup schedule? No problem! Our CSA program is set up to be flexible because our goal is to make local food purchasing as easy and inspiring as possible. With our CSA share, you don’t have to compromise your values for the sake of convenience.

What makes our CSA special?

  • Choice: Our “Pick Six, Custom Choice” setup allows you to personally choose six selections each week from a wide variety of offerings including vegetables, herbs and fruits.  We typically offer between 10-30 choices per week. You pick- every item, every week so you take home a share of just what you love.

  • Experience:  April Joy Farm has been serving Clark County families through our CSA program since 2008.  We have the expertise and an innovative spirit that keep us refining our practices and offerings and that experience pays off.  Some of our members have been with us for 14 consecutive years.

  • Flexibility:  Going out of town?  No problem! With advance notice, you can bank your shares for pickup at a later date,  spread it over several weeks, or pick up an extra share of storage crops at the end of the season.

  • Quality: We custom harvest and pack our produce with great care less than 36 hours in advance of CSA pickup to provide you with exceptionally nutritious food.  Our CSA program has maintained a 85%+ retention rate for the last five years. We take pride in what we do and it shows.

  • Flavor:  From sweet, crisp carrots to crunchy romaine, we go to great lengths to find unique and heirloom varieties bred for maximum flavor.  That results in diversity and deliciousness you’ll never find in the grocery store.

  • Convenience: Do you have visitors in town?  Or maybe you need a double share of salad mix for that potluck event?  Don’t head to the grocery store! You can easily add extra items to your CSA share for a flat price per item.

  • Transparency: You pick up your weekly CSA selections right at our farm and in the process, have the opportunity to see our philosophy and our practices in action.  You will literally get to see your produce in the field and ask your farmers about our growing practices.

  • Ultra-Healthy, Clean Food:  We are passionate land stewards deeply committed to the soil, plant, and animal communities under our care.  Our WSDA organic certification is just the baseline of our sustainable practices. We also continue to partner with the USDA, WSU and Clark Conservation District on a number of ecosystem restoration projects.  We don’t cut corners; when we say sustainable, we have over a decade of credentials to back it up.

  • Community: As an April Joy Farm member, you’ll get a chance to connect with your farmers as well as other families at our CSA pickup each week.  Through our regular farm updates, you’ll have an inside perspective on the stories behind your food. Plus, joining our CSA plugs you into our extensive network of like-minded regional producers.  Looking for lentils, grains, beans, peas, chickpeas, pork, beef, dairy, eggs, stone fruit, blueberries or even salmon?  We’ve got you covered! Sign up for your CSA and you’re gaining access to an incredible local food system, vetted by your personal farmers.

Certified Organic, Nutrient Dense, Local Produce for Local Families

At April Joy Farm, we feel strongly about simplicity, sustainability and cultivating gratitude. We encourage our CSA families to remember that part of the adventure and education of a CSA is trying new vegetables and learning to eat within the seasons of our local foodshed.

Our goal is for the produce you take home to be thoroughly enjoyed! We strive to offer as many options as possible in any given week throughout the season.  Our CSA experience is about eating nutritionally dense, organically grown food while connecting to the stories of your food.

Full-Bodied Flavors and Rich Stories

We grow many different crops at April Joy Farm, and each year we trial new varieties. Our selection process is rigorous, including criteria such as availability of certified organic seed stock, integrity of the breeder and/or seed company, heritage-status, open-pollinated, adaptability for our local climate, and vigor in organic production systems. Varieties that pass those hurdles are then subjected to the taste test. Excellent, rich, full bodied flavor is of paramount importance. We also love varieties that have historical significance, or that are important part of our regional agricultural legacy.

Our Seasonal Produce Offerings

While this should provide an idea of the diversity of produce that will be included in your CSA share, please note, the timing is approximate due to weather and other influences not under our control. Please also know the table below includes only our most popular choices. However, our goal is to consistently provide these staple crops while also offering unique and unusual choices throughout the season.

We tried a couple of CSAs before having April Joy Farm recommended to us. What a wonderful experience. The produce is grown organically, the portions are generous, and you are able to pick from a large list of items. April and Brad are the nicest, most dedicated people you will ever meet. We will happily pay them to grow our food for as many years as they are in the farming business.
